Fire is a chemical reaction. In particular it called reaction called oxidation whaich is the same chemical reaction that causes things to rust (its all about things called electrons moving from one atom to another). When this reaction is very fast heat and light energy are produced in what is a flame. We are used to our nice cosy fires at home but different chemicals can creat flames of all types of colours, this is how fireworks are made.
