      Hi there,
Well there are a few reasons. People often think they indicate calcium deficiency, but this is a myth. They actually tend to appear if you injure your fingernail, very like bruises, but this happens after a few weeks, so you’ve probably forgotten all about your injury! They’re called “leukonychia” and are very common. Sometimes, the injury can stem from a manicure that put excessive pressure on the base of the nails. The spots also can be a sign of an allergic reaction to nail polish or, sometimes, are a symptom of a mild infection. Mostly nothing to worry about! And they grow out anyway 😉
