“The sky is the limit” is a saying that people use when they mean that there is no limit to what someone or something can achieve. It is a very old phrase that is believed to have originated in the seventeenth century. I guess that back then people never thought humans would go into outer space or land on the moon. So they thought that the sky really was the limit.

The saying you are referring to, “the sky is the limit”, is a nice optimistic way of thinking about the world and our life, don’t you think? It actually probably was coined at a time when airplanes had been invented. Rather than being taken literally, the saying emphasises that, as humans, we are constantly pushing the limits of what is achievable, especially through science!
So yes, space exploration and the man landing on the moon could just be taken as examples of what we have achieved and this should inspire us to achieve even more! I’d say “The Universe- or multiuniverses- are the limit!” 😉
